The acad edu-coord analyses the children's needs in all the homes in various schools and decides on the kind of academic & school support each group needs; puts together a panel of teachers who can come in at the time children are available to provide remedial or school support, English & computer classes, sets and manages the routine and time table of these teachers, undertakes training and planning sessions of the full time, part time and volunteer teachers, takes workshops to develop material for use in classroom, monitors the teaching/learning in the homes through observations of classes, ensures that educations reports are filled and tracks the children's progress. There is a constant need to address children's learning issues and develop more appropriate teaching techniques and material.

Ensures the supply of books, material, charts, models, etc.
Works with the Home coordinator to ensure that computers in the homes are working and facilites repair and maintenance.

The acad edu-coord also identifies and plans for the education of children with special needs. Also the planning and execution of education programmes for children who are studying through NIOS or IGNOU
Engages in scanning the environment, research to identify good practices in education for under privileged children.

CHIRAG (Community Health Initiative and Research Action Group), is a field action project of the College of Social Work, Nirmala Niketan initiated in 2005. The project works towards mobilising community based care and support for people living with HIV/AIDS (PLHA) in Mumbai.

CHIRAG’s work is undertaken by the team from its office in umerkhadi near JJ hospital .In the Drop in Centres, CHIRAG works with infected and affected clients and their issues and concerns on a day to day basis. CHIRAG also works by organising trainings for mandals, CHVs etcetera and identifying community leaders to help fight HIV.

As a growing and dynamic project which is in touch with the field realities and needs, CHIRAG is now actively working on the advocacy aspect with government and other agencies.

Sudhar pioneered “Socio-Legal support , Rehabilitation and Advocacy model” of intervention in the Prisons in the State of Madhya Pradesh (M.P.) through its project ‘Social work in Prison’ in 2000 as a case work intervention with female under-trial prisoners in Betul District Prison. In 2001, the work was expanded to Bhopal and Hoshangabad prisons on the proposition of Prison Department of Madhya Pradesh. Thereafter, case work intervention was extended to marginalized (male and female) prisoners and their family members. Further in 2005, Sudhar expanded its work area and included Indore and Ujjain prisons in its project. In the same year Sudhar got registered as a non profit organisation under the Societies registration Act of 1860. Currently, Sudhar is working in five prisons of Madhya Pradesh which includes two Central Prisons and three District Prisons.

• Enhancing of Rehabilitation Support Programme for prisoners through planning and monitoring of rehabilitation services, documentation and advocacy of the rehabilitation issues relating to prisoners.
• To do prison visits to various districts of M.P to monitor rehabilitation services provided to prisoners by sudhar’s social workers.
